Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains how Azan Time by Hexa Core Apps handles information and permissions when you use our mobile application.

Last Updated: September 5, 2026
01 Introduction

Hexa Core Apps (“we”, “us”, or “our”) built the Azan Time app as a free Islamic utility application. We believe in minimal data access and strict user privacy. We do not require account creation, nor do we collect personal identifiers such as your name, email, phone number, contacts, or financial details.

02 Location Data Handling

The app requests location access (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION):

  • Purpose: Precise geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude) are accessed solely to calculate accurate, location-based Islamic prayer times, Qibla compass direction, and sun position.
  • Processing & Storage: Location coordinates are processed on your device and may be transmitted securely as query parameters to relevant prayer-time or location-based API providers when required for the requested functionality. HexaCore Apps does not maintain a personal location history or user location profile on its own servers.
  • Sharing: Location data is never sold, rented, or shared with third-party advertising or analytics networks.
03 Camera Permission (Qibla AR View)

The app requests CAMERA permission strictly for the augmented-reality Qibla feature:

  • Purpose: To overlay the Qibla compass needle over a live camera preview, helping users align towards the Kaaba in real-time.
  • Zero Data Collection: Camera frames are processed transiently and entirely on-device (in RAM). The app does not capture, record, store, or transmit any photos, videos, or visual feeds to external servers.
04 Foreground Services & Background Audio

The app implements dedicated foreground services (such as AzanAudioService and QuranMediaService) utilizing mediaPlayback:

  • Playback Functionality: Used to play Adhan calls at exact prayer times and stream or play Holy Quran recitations continuously even when the app screen is locked or running in the background.
  • Audio Safety: These services are strictly output/playback engines. The app does not access the microphone, record ambient audio, or collect background sound.
  • Persistent Controls: A persistent system media notification is displayed during active playback so users can pause or dismiss the service at any time.
05 Alarms, Scheduling & System Permissions

To provide reliable alerts, the app uses system-level scheduling permissions:

  • Exact Alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM): Required to schedule exact, minute-accurate prayer reminders and Adhan calls according to astronomical calculations.
  • System Boot & Rescheduling (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Managed via our BootReceiver to reschedule upcoming prayer alarms automatically when your device reboots, or when system time, timezone, or date changes occur.
  • Battery Optimization (REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS): The app may prompt to ignore aggressive OS battery restrictions solely to prevent the Android system from killing scheduled Adhan alarms. It does not gather battery telemetry or personal data.
  • Wake Lock & Vibration (WAKE_LOCK / VIBRATE): Used briefly to wake the processor just enough to sound the Adhan on time and vibrate for alert notifications.
06 Quran & Islamic Content

The app provides Holy Quran text, translations, tafsir, and recitations:

  • Network Delivery: Content and audio streams are retrieved via Islamic content delivery APIs (such as Quran Foundation / Quran.com APIs and Aladhan Prayer APIs). Network requests only convey required chapter/verse or coordinate parameters. No personal profile data or device IDs are sent.
  • Offline Storage: Downloaded Quran surahs, translation files, and Adhan audio files are stored locally in device internal/app-scoped storage for offline accessibility. You can remove these anytime by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
07 Notifications & Alerts

On Android 13 (API level 33) and above, runtime notification permission (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) is requested to deliver timely prayer alerts, Azan reminders, and media player controls. Notification interactions remain completely local to the device and are not tracked.

08 Third-Party Services & Network APIs

The app connects to the internet (INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) solely to fetch Islamic resources (prayer times, Qibla data, Quran texts, and recitations):

  • No Third-Party Ad Networks: Advertising is not present in the app. No advertising SDKs (such as AdMob or Unity Ads) are bundled.
  • No Invasive Analytics/Trackers: The app does not integrate user behavior tracking or commercial profiling SDKs.
  • External Content Providers: Third-party APIs operate under their standard technical logging protocols (IP addresses during web requests). We recommend reviewing their independent policies when utilizing external API content.
09 Local Storage & User Preferences

All configuration settings are saved locally on your device via standard Android shared preferences/Datastore:

  • Calculation methods (MWL, ISNA, Umm al-Qura, Karachi, etc.) and Asr juristic school (Hanafi / Shafi).
  • Adhan audio selections, volume preferences, and notification toggles.
  • Theme settings, language choices, and Quran bookmarks.

These preferences never leave your device and are cleared if the application is uninstalled.

10 Data Sharing & Sale

We do not intentionally collect or maintain personal profiles or personal identifiers such as your name, email address, phone number, or contacts. Information accessed by the app is used only for the functionality described in this Privacy Policy. We do not sell, lease, or monetize personal user data.

11 Data Security & Retention

We implement standard HTTPS encryption for all external API communications to protect data in transit. Because we do not run developer servers that store user profiles, we do not retain your personal data. Local settings and downloaded Islamic audio remain stored securely on your device until deleted or uninstalled.

12 User Rights & Permission Controls

You have full control over system permissions. You can grant or revoke Camera, Location, and Notification permissions at any time via Android Settings > Apps > Azan Time > Permissions. If permission is denied, core offline utility features remain accessible, though location-dependent prayer times or the AR camera Qibla feature will be disabled.

13 Children’s Privacy

Azan Time is not specifically directed toward children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

14 Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect functional changes in the app or Google Play Developer Policy updates. Any revisions will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
